There's this, too.

In high school I had a classmate who died in a car accident the day after Thanksgiving. It put the term Black Friday in grim sense for me early on.

If only we were allowed to say, "Merry Christmas."

That's awful
But, really though. People going crazy over $200 TVs? The attachment to "things", and acquiring more, is quite absurd.

It might be a tie...

This is really the heart of what this thread is about, so thank you for getting it back on track. I try to make sure my kids understand the difference between wanting/having nice things and coveting those things, or even worse, coveting the "deal." I'm sure we all know that person who is constantly buying shit they don't need, just because they "saved" x amount of dollars on it. As opposed to not buying it at all and saving 100%.

It's jokes are numerous, clever, and sadly prescient, but I wouldn't call it a funny movie, nor a great movie. But it's definitely unique and odd, and there are a lot of quotable lines...
Everything just looks sort of flat, though. It's Mike Judge's typical style (anti-style?), but I think the outlandish futuristic setting called for a little more energy and pizazz than he knows how to muster.

And that's what plants crave! Right? That's a quote from the movie, yes? I've never seen it but I've read enough stupid AV Club comments that I know a bunch of lines from it. Kind of makes me hate the movie a little bit.
