Wow. Even for a retiring Republican, this is an abnormally blunt assessment.
Quote:
Rep. Tom Rooney, a top Republican lawmaker on the House Intelligence Committee, is ripping President Donald Trump's unsupported claim that the FBI inserted a spy inside his campaign.
"What is the point of saying that there was a spy in the campaign when there was none?" Rooney said in an interview on Wednesday. "You know what I’m saying? It’s like, ‘Lets create this thing to tweet about knowing that it’s not true.’ … Maybe it’s just to create more chaos but it doesn’t really help the case."
Rooney, who did not attend the DOJ briefing last month but said he's been read in on the details, went further than Ryan and Gowdy.
"Look, if you want to disagree with what we were briefed on and say that it was a spy? That’s fine, I guess. We would just disagree with that," he said. "And if that makes us RINOs because we have a different opinion about what the FBI was doing, then I guess we’re RINOs."

(Extreme Eric Idle voice) "The government's case is of course corrupt, and if I had any advice for the accused it would be… Burn the evidence. Burn it right away. Burn it all, into tiny flaming embers, from which the smoke rises...."

I would feel so much better about North Korea canceling on us than I do about a president who thinks we fought Canada in 1812 and who will make any national concession for private gain “winging it” against a rogue state with nuclear capabilities.

We are upside down. NBC/WSJ poll out today has the majority of respondents less likely to vote for a candidate who supports the tax cuts and shows that, among people for whom gun control is a principal issue, Democrats lead (by double digits) for the first time ever.
Republican-driven tax cuts and gun control are winning issues for Democrats. When did the timeline switch on us again?
