Second reason listed here is something I hadn’t thought of. Impeachment for soliciting election interference provides the House with greater investigative powers, which make it less likely that Trump will both solicit and succeed with other nations.

So, let’s say the House actually votes for impeachment. Doesn’t it require a two-thirds majority vote from the Senate to remove him from office? There’s no way in hell that’ll ever happen. So what’s the point of impeachment? Senate Republicans could watch him shoot a man in the head while selling the White House to Putin, and they’d still never remove him. And look at how bolstered he’d be for the election after he’s acquitted. There’s no winning here. Except for Trump. It’s a dead issue guys.
"Wait, the president of the united states continually sold out the country, broke the law numerous times, defied the constitution, and you guys did NOTHING??? Cool, cool government"
You disagree?
Disagree with what? That it will make a lick of difference? No. But they need to move forward with it. Otherwise they are just as content with Trump as the republicans. Democrats already have an awful fucking reputation as being the party of non doers and cowards. They are really working that angle right now. Sure as shit.
But to what end do they do it? It goes nowhere in the Senate and Trump claims yet another victory probably leading to him most certainly winning the election.
I’m not saying I don’t want him gone. Holy fuck, do I want him gone. But I do understand the reluctance the democrats are feeling towards going forward with impeachment.
Just once it would be nice if the Democrats didn't act like a bunch of pussies!
I don't think people will believe Trump is innocent just because the Senate finds him not guilty. Anyone dumb enough to believe that is probably already voting for Trump anyway. Sensible people will see it for what it is, the Republicans turning a blind eye. Let them own those 'no' votes on impeachment. Not laying out the case makes it easy for Republicans to bury their heads in the sand. Don't make it easy for them to ignore the facts, force them to look.
