Also, to be clear, if they said they didn't want to serve her bc she's hetero it would be okay?
No. Taking political stances that undermine democracy, factual reporting, and ultimately lead to the victimization of thousands of migrant children is a completely different concept from being LGBTQ.

Having brain cramps at all of the Republicans who want to take credit for Abe Lincoln and accuse the Dixiecrats of implementing segregation but support Trump and the alt-Right. Like, what does the inside of their head look like?

Today's WH press conference was downright professional. If I hadn't been paying attention to the news, I'd think this was just your standard-issue Republican White House trying to stop illegal border entries in favor of a more efficient Port of Entry system.

Oh, man. Millions of conservatives are going to be vociferously angry about the slippery slope into total incivility that a sitting president attacking a small business owner and slandering their establishment represents. Right?
Right??!?
Hey Spenno?
Trump's post is bad, but not because I find it objectionable that a President is publicly grumpy about a restaurant acting in a really appalling way towards one of his staff*, but because it's rude of him to suggest the business is dirty. Sarah Sanders' response, from what I saw on Twitter, was, in contrast, quite measured and gracious in the circumstances.
(* Is she part of his staff? I don't really understand the position that she occupies, we don't have anything equivalent.)
The criticism that they shouldn't use their "official Twitter accounts" to discuss this are quite strange to me, as though elected officials aren't able to hold personal views, or at least shouldn't air them publicly. I've seen plenty of British and Australian politicians share their views on all kinds of things from their "official" accounts, it would seem strange to me for them not to do so. They're only people doing a job, after all (which was my initial point about how unwise it is to act as though these things are inseparable).

Jesus...did you read the comments on that article?

From the article: "The Red Hen backlash, though, is just the latest example of what happens when you accidentally stumble into the political crosshairs."
Accidentally stumbled? Really?? This was a deliberate act. An act of classless restaurant owner. The intolerance of the left rears it ugly head again.

It's almost like you didn't understand anything else written in the article, like how they are two different restaurants/companies.

I open up Twitter and what the hell is this:
This is the kind of stuff I am seriously worried by; an inability to treat people in good faith and complete refusal to grant legitimacy to opposing political views.
If nothing else, Trump continues to highlight how unhinged and irrational the supposedly reasonable people can be when things don't pan out as they expect - and that there is no "side" to history, that we can't perceive such a thing, and it certainly doesn't necessarily move in a liberal, progressive direction.

The word Nazi has lost all meaning at this point. It's a great way to dismiss a huge portion of the country.

But at least we're not dismissing actual nazis. That would be a mistake.

LOCK HER UP
My understanding, which is from afar and pretty half-baked, is that the concerns about her email/private server usage were very legitimate, and that it appeared as though the FBI chose not to pursue the matter because of her candidacy - which is absolutely insane if even remotely true, but I don't know really know the full details.

I would think the ethics issue is their use of publicly supplied accounts for bitching. (I don't think @RealDonaldTrump applies here.)
As a state employee, I am explicitly restricted from contacting lawmakers with my state e-mail address, but theoretically I can contact whomever I wanted and protest using my gmail account or facebook or twitter.
So, in this case, I don't really see a problem with Trump being a dick on @RealDonaldTrump, as long as he doesn't trash the business with @POTUS or @WhiteHouse because those accounts belong to the taxpayers, 60% of which think Trump is a giant pile of shit. Of course, an ethicist may say that because he's President, it's inappropriate for him to offer opinions on ANY private business via ANY account.
