Pence would be a more garden variety sort evil, with various acts against women, minorities, and the environment; but he would likely be much more effective than Trump.

Until Afghanistan the longest US conflict was Vietnam. I remember it being an issue in the '92 presidential race that Bill Clinton did not serve for his country. It's interesting to me that there has not been a president who has served active military duty in Vietnam and it is increasingly unlikely there ever will be.
