Direct democracy is very rarely ever a good idea.

And yet there aren't many people that argue this when they get the outcome that they want.

I don't even mean to imply that rejecting this deal was a bad decision. I honestly don't know. Normalizing a hated terrorist organization has got to be a tough pill to swallow, and may not actually be worth whatever chance at peace this deal would have allowed.
In general, though, direct yay or nay votes by the voters at large on a specific referendum is a mistake. People should be able to pick their leaders. Representatives hopefully have cooler tempers and a longer vision.

Is there any real support for the FARCs within mainstream Colombian society?

Yeah. The people who voted for the deal weren't saying "yay, we love FARC"; they were saying "dear God please stop killing us".

Yeah I get that, I was just wondering if there was this weird faction of people sympathetic to them on the fringes of mainstream culture.

I'm sure they have their sympathizers but not in the mainstream.

Are the political reforms objectionable, or is it mostly the get out of jail free card for the FARC members?

Most people don't know about the "Hussein" part, but it's true. Look it up.
