"Taking away guns" is logistically impossible. It's baked in at this point.

It’s been done before.

Not here. You are truly delusional if you think it's possible in America.

Yeah seriously spike, good luck with that.

I personally hate guns but that is not realistic. At all.

What percentage of these shootings are by former employees? Can’t fire anyone these days.

I don’t think it’s a trend but it’s interesting how a few of these high profile gun events involve people under 20.

Kyle Rittenhouse was 17. Adam Toledo was 13. The Fed Ex guy was 19.

It’s sad when the nation’s lust for guns extend to a younger generation. They are seen as normal tools of everyday use. The kids seem desensitized to a gun’s deadly purpose.

Guns are stupid, and I own some. I inherited quite a bit of guns when my dad passed and except for a few that had sentimental value for him, I’m selling the rest.

I’m amazed at how many calls our Police dept. gets for “keep the peace” during employee terminations at companies in the city I work for. And also disgruntled ex employees coming back on a company site.

Must be video games and movies. It's the only explanation.

The worry and the prevalence are a mystery. I blame single parent homes and abortion.

You're spot on. Americans genuinely believe they have a "right to violence" that supercedes all other rights. It's the only lense that makes our country make any sense.

How do you guys propose taking guns away? Or does it just make you feel better to bitch about it?

Buybacks seem to be the most effective/only effective way.

Maybe more people should be "bitching" about the hundreds of pointless deaths instead of just taking it in the ass and saying it's inevitable. Seems like a great plan.

You can't buyback something people don't want to sell.

A military spec AR 15 might cost $1200 on average. I've seen buyback proposals with $1,000 payout and that seems to be the high end. If you're passionate enough of a gun enthusiast to spend that kind of money on a gun $1,000 isn't going to sway you into taking the deal.

NZ and Australia have done buy backs but I don't think that means it's gun free utopia. Compliance is actually pretty disappointing unless I'm mistaken.

Off the top of my head, let's try:

Mandatory insurance requirements for having guns
Make ammunition more expensive
Make it harder to get a gun in the first place
Make it harder to sell guns
Make fewer guns
Restrict what can be made
Restrict what can be sold
Offer buybacks (for guns & ammo) at overmarket prices
Make all data federally shared and researched
Make all rules listed above mandatory across all states, territories, and extended to all of North America.

Christchurch certainly got people's attention.

A quick Google search seems to suggest compliance with buybacks is a problem, at least on some level.

No jokes, this all seems pretty doable, even if it wont stop the problem 100%. The total value of all the stock of the major gun makers in under $20B. With only the money he made in 2020, Elon could literally just buy them, stop firearm production at them, and convert those factories/jobs to Telsa parts.

Relative to America, it is. I think Australia’s had three mass shootings since stricter laws were passed 25 years ago. The US had four in one day a week ago. But hey, probably not worth persuing.

Maybe Elon or Bezos can just pay us all not to own guns? What's a number we think would work? The manufacturers would just go under. This is the way.
