Good luck Belarus. I hope the autocrat that ends up ruling you is kind and just. Go people power! *chortle*

In one case, activists recorded video of a poll worker escaping the back of a polling station on a ladder while clutching bags of what the activists claim are excess ballots.

RE: Belarus, the candidate that was the true winner of the election is now in Lithuania*.

So, hooray, Belarus is probaly still nominally independent! Most of the green men are domestically sourced. Organic, free range, Minsk riot police/ special military units, not imported Russian factory farmed green men, this is an important distinction.

*Poor gits thought NATO's assurance was worth a damn. On the other hand, there is a Lithuanian armory churning out 62 gr 5.56.

Genuinely not sure what they're trying to tell us. Is that meant to imply they were all looted by Antifa? Or is it just a reflection of all the big commercial tenants pulling out due to lack of sales?

Probably some combination of the two.

Perchance I was too pessimistic, but after what happened to Ukraine, its hard to believe the Russians would allow another 'color revolution' without some significant counter action.

Unfortunately, Belarus ended up with a lot of high end military related electronics and optics factories. Unless Russia has more recently developed more of these industries domestically, they rely on Belarus for the defense supply chain, just as Ukraine was an important supplier for certain aviation components.

It’s the country’s most successful anti-gentrification effort. DeBlasio/Harris 2024!

We've been doing something similar at the panama canal zone since the 50s. Those pests were sterilized via irradiation, but seems to be a similar concept.

There was an excellent episode of Short Wave (NPR science podcast with 10 minute stories) on this about a month ago!

Amelrica's 'Never-Ending Battle Against Flesh-Eating Screw Worms'
Sarah Zhang wrote about it for the Atlantic: a decades-long scientific operation in Central America that keeps flesh-eating screw worms effectively eradicated from every country north of Panama. Sarah tells the story of the science behind the effort, and the man who came up with it.

Sorry for beating you to the punch. :P

A compromise for residents of the Florida keys is to cultivate Dengue and Zika mosquitos in the keys, and dump the genetically engineered ones on the tip of the peninsula.
