The two worst candidates emerged out of the pool of 5: an inexperienced right-wing puppet of Alvaro Uribe, and a socialist who used to be a member of the M16 guerrilla and has a history of failures and scandals. I know who I'm voting for come June 17, but I am not happy about it.
Jill Stein?

Yuck
We are stuck with these two options, since the others were eliminated after the first round. It's a weird system.
Ultimately I have to go with the candidate who is least likely to send Colombia down the path of becoming another Venezuela

People in the US like to bitch about our "first past the post" election system, but people elsewhere in the world seem just as irritated by runoff options.

I haven't lived in Colombia for 13 years
Mon May 28, 2018 3:46 pm
oh yeah. but then why are you saying "we"? still have family there?
Mon May 28, 2018 3:50 pm
Yeah, my dad, two youngest siblings, aunts and uncles, and about twenty cousins. I haven't lived in Colombia in a long time but I still feel very much a part of it
Mon May 28, 2018 3:52 pm
makes sense. honestly though, why wouldn't your family leave that environment if they have the means to do so?
Mon May 28, 2018 3:55 pm
They're doing well and they like living there. It's not like the country is falling apart -- Colombia is one of the most economically prosperous countries in Latin America. It's not Venezuela. But it just sucks that these are the two choices that we're left with to lead the nation. Petro, in particular, would be TERRIBLE for the country.

lol @ the absolute bluntness of ABC's statement re: Roseanne
Tue May 29, 2018 7:05 pm
What'd she say?
Tue May 29, 2018 7:05 pm
she called a black person an ape
Tue May 29, 2018 7:08 pm
Yeah, who would have thought this person was a disgusting bigot?
Tue May 29, 2018 7:12 pm
Wow, that's awful, I had no idea. I didn't even know she was back on tv until recently.

Good riddance. Horrible show. Although, whatever garbage they replace it with will probably be worse.

I watched the premiere of her new show and it was just ridiculous. Jackie was made out to be a total nutty liberal and she wore a t-shirt that said "nasty woman". Becky was like a creepy stepford wife type. There was a black grandchild. I knew it was only a matter of time...either people would come to their senses and stop watching, or Roseanne would say or do something to get it cancelled. Looks like both happened.

Controversy does not make for longevity, just a flash in the pan.

Since this is happening in two threads: this is a huge bummer and it’s beyond frustrating that Roseanne did this herself. Ugh.
