Renoir’s Problem Nudes An argument is often made that we shouldn’t judge the past by the values of the present, but that’s a hard sell in a case as primordial as Renoir’s.

Mac homie did you read the piece? Because this is how it ends

Though I'd never stand opposed to executing Andy Borowitz along with anyone who finds him funny.

It's good that he isn't for literally burning Renoir paintings I suppose.

So you didn't read it, then. Because this piece is responding to current criticisms of Renoir, contextualizing them and in many ways defending his work.

Keep telling yourself that. I did read it (it's one of the shortest New Yorker articles I've come across in recent memory. I at least give it credit for not being as typically long winded.) And a brief and half hearted apology at the end for what came before does not a defense make.
It's idiotic faux criticism from a modern puritan.

Oh yeah for sure man, everything's on a binary.

An argument is often made that we shouldn’t judge the past by the values of the present, but
This is the “I’m not a racist, but” of the NPC

Yes, hundreds of years of systemic, engrained racism in our society and the relatively new phenomenon of being "woke" are totally the same. Because, you know, they state one thing, then say "but." Same. Heaven forbid we exercise a little critical thinking in looking at certain cases (that goes both ways).

I think constantly invoking Dolores Umbridge anytime there's a politics lady you don't like counts as a mental illness, which is a form of evil spirit.

Man, that dive boat fire in California. Early reports are that the people who were sleeping were locked in their cabins? Wtf? Only 5 crew survived, and audio between the coast guard and the captain suggest all of the passengers were locked inside. What a fucking nightmare.
