Numbers on evacuees from Sudan. Kind of wild that the US waited until after the international airport was pretty well shot up to advise people to evacuate.
Between this, Afghanistan, and their ransom payment policy it's rather difficult to shake the suspicion that the bipartisan consensus in Washington is that the US has absolutely no obligation to US citizens overseas.
When we talk about the difference in tax burden between the US and Western Europe we normally talk about defence spending and social spending. Perhaps an overlooked category is "willingness to evacuate citizens stuck abroad in a warzone".

how many US citizens are in Sudan?
not to be insensitive
but they have basically been a failed state for a decade+ ?
they should get white collar ponzinomics jobs where they work from home safely indoors in western countries and generate no tangible value to society but are paid well, instead
of living in failed african states
that
was their first problem

16K was one figure floated
This is a common refrain, but it's in conflict with the sacred obligation for the US to McKinsey the world.
Not to mention, we import the world, so who knows what the breakdown is between dual nationals vs. those snot noses kids in school that got a job telling foreign countries how to operate on the basis of their Bachelors degree in how to be Pete Buttigieg.
The US charges expats taxes in ways other countries do not. The get out of failed state fee should be included, otherwise what are we taxing them for?
Has this sentiment always been with us? If you're crazy enough to attack someone because they are taking your photo in public, your threshold to violence was already alarmingly low.
