Good question for Paddy, he lives on the border.

Nah I’m in Dublin. Arlene Foster of the DUP was bizarrely on the big chat show here tonight.
We’re basically an economic United ireland now. The border is in the sea. And moving towards an actual united ireland at speed. She knows this.

NI is definitely an underdeveloped shithole. Belfast is coming on but it’s still a shithole.
Dublin to Belfast corridor is just waiting to happen as a massive development opportunity. Both in terms of industry and international corporations to move into. UI will probably be remade as some sort of federal state. UI is coming and Foster and her pals know it now.

Do.

GB pumps 11 billion a year into NI and gets nothing back. Vast civil service biggest employer in the region and nobody’s sure what it even does but it’s something like 2.7 people to one job. It’s almost three times bigger than it needs to be.
The region has massive unemployment simply as theres fuck all industry or output up there of any importance. Couple that with the divided communities and brain drain of kids who do actually make it to college all leave for Dublin or GB to go to college and they don’t come back.

Fuck all there to go back to. It’s depressing but it has huge potential too which has only ever been ignored by the British and that will just continue. Their only hope for prosperity is a United ireland.

Bagpipes are Scottish. Not Irish.

Same tribe but different country.

Well you’re kinda right. The ones that cause all the problems up there are descendants of the Scottish colonists.

I don't know why, I've just had a hard time following all that was going on with brexit. But, happy Independence or something, Britain!

Have to agree.

None of it makes sense in fact it’s insanity.

Perfect analogy for it.

Farage railed against Johnson’s deal saying it wasn’t a true brexit.

Last night he threw a big celebration in parliament square to celebrate brexit.

An awful lot of british people are awfully awfully stupid. And the blame game has already begun. It’s all remainers fault apparently.

Have there been any immediate repercussions in the economy, stocks, government, etc? yet?

Haven’t been paying attention to it at all but I don’t think so. They’ve left but this is literally just stage one done. Year long transition period and endless negotiations to come in which they’re going to feel the full force of 26 countries crushing them in every way imaginable trade wise.
And they still haven’t gotten to the rest of the world yet. They have to strike new deals with US India China etc etc etc.

And those three are going to fuck them even harder.

Yes, the end of 2020 is the end of the current deal.
