Betelgeuse is the brightest star in the night sky. It is calculated to be about 642.5 light-years from Earth. This also means that, if we see Betelgeuse explode tonight, the supernova really took place over 600 years ago, we're only seeing it now. |

so the boy and i just went for a walk when the sun just set. outside of venus, which is unbelievably bright right now, betelgeuse is super bright. we also noticed that you can actually see the reddish/orange hue, particularly compared to the other star in orion's shoulder. i also found out that the star is pronounced "beetle juice." that is all. |
