I think it’s just the timing: the Fed’s trying to avoid a full blown recession and this could easily be the last straw. Which is why the reportedly won’t follow through on any more interest hikes.

Separately, someone else had mentioned a major depositor being a winery that hadn't even opened yet, so perhaps related to this asshole. Lots of who/ whom distinctions with this bailout. If they wanted to keep the depositors whole (without all the weirdness of this unrestricted backstop) the feds could have set up a sale over the weekend but they explicitly chose not to.

So the guys in charge of trying to decrease bank consolidation don't have much pull with the guys in charge of the money supply and full employment? Damn, I thought they were on the same team.
