Millennials will have time to make up for that down the road. Xers, as usual, got screwed the most when the recession hit at their peak earning time.

Wonder what that would look like after factoring in parental support

Who, besides people selling house and securities, says we are not at the top? Because algos made the market jump 2% in one day?

I heard some chatter the other day about everything being fine. That's probably a bad sign.

Here's some fancy charts showing stuff. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jessecolom ... ssion=true

Saw this quote hanging out in the comment section - I know, you shouldn't read the comments - but it reminded me of this thread.

Both things can be bad. One is a betrayal of the supposed principles that a powerful man claimed to hold but all of the evidence shows that he clearly didn't. The other betrays the fact that an up and coming elected official appears to have no grasp on public policy whatsoever.

Yes, Paul Ryan's is worse.

I’m not so much concerned with whether one is worse as I am bemused by the two subgroups of people who have nothing to say about one of these but constantly clutch pearls about the other.

The only people who hate him more than democrats are republicans. And I can't imagine what value Ezra Klein's opinion of Paul Ryan could possibly be.

I guess this response works if you only count the last two years. Paul Ryan, for all of his career prior, enjoyed one of the longest and most pronounced periods of extreme popularity with Republican voters of any post-Reagan politician. He averaged better than +40 with registered Republicans, and around +30 with non-Republican conservatives. It didn’t dissolve until literally the moment Trump began campaigning.

For a period of years, in fact, conservatives adored Paul Ryan.

Yeah, this. I didn't have numbers to back up my feeling, but Ryan was the golden child of the Republican Party for a long time. I think the Speakership probably took a little of the sheen off but it was really the Trump stuff that wore him down, not opposition to his stated policies or anger that he claimed to be a deficit hawk but was in fact 100% full of it and just an Obama obstructionist.

Um, I am supposed to be reassured and feel better that the Treasury Secretary called to check in on six major banks this weekend, right?

With the Dow closing 653 points down in just a half day on what is traditionally among the lightest trading days of the year I guess I am not alone with that thought.

Or we could, you know, ease up on zoning laws that prevent housing from being built.
