Its been alleged that the decedant didnt have a uniform, which wouldn't be here or there except that urban CA police almost never interact with legally armed individuals. Posession of gun=would be cop murderer. If you do have a concealed carry permit (open carry banned), then you know the Sherrif and contributed to their re-election fund, and you also probably never have to interact with the police.
I don't know anything about the requirements to be an armed security guard in CA, but it seems bizarre than an 18 year old could be licensed to be such when they can't legally purchase any sort of firearm. Also, most 'private' security guards that I've seen are local cops or sherrifs on contract through their department earning overtime. Maybe they didn't care for competition.
