MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Minneapolis voters struck down a proposed charter amendment that would have eliminated the city’s police department and replaced it with a public safety agency.
57 percent of voters voted "no" versus 43 percent for "yes" on a ballot question, which asked if the city charter should be amended to remove the Minneapolis Police Department and replace it with a Department of Public Safety. The proposed charter amendment would have eliminated the minimum police staffing requirement as well as the position of police chief.

Someone convince me that the cop(s) who apprehended Darrell Brooks shouldn't have just beat him to death right there on the spot with their bare hands.
Did You Know? Darrell Brooks had previously been arrested for punching his baby-mama in the face and then running over her with his car and was released on $1,000 bail.

The prosecutors office aknowledged that they violated the bail guidelines by requesting bail that low. No need for a beating, just for the prosecutors to do their job and he might've still been in jail.

I mean the cops who got him after he killed 5 people yesterday, not the cops who got him after he tried to kill his Ex earlier.
Word. He got out on a low bail the first time because they could not assure him a sufficiently speedy trial. Sounds like the court needs to work on that.

That is infuriating. He ran over someone with a car on purpose.

This wasn't necessarily covid related, but a lot of that shit has gone on. How many alleged felonies can you commit before your trial date gets expedited? His original untried charges were from 6 (more?) months ago, no reason why they shouldn't be ready for trial by now.

Well congratulations to this very resourceful fellow who used the free time to improve his Kill People With Car skills.

The racist exchanges have led to the dismissal of at least 85 criminal cases involving the officers implicated in the scandal. In the span of one week in November, the Los Angeles County public defender’s office received about 300 letters from prosecutors disclosing (cases that may be retroactively jeopardized by) potential misconduct by officers based on the texts.
