Remember the post 9/11 "Terror Tactic" PSA that blamed casual drug users for murder and terrorism around the globe?

That certainly applies to coke (FARC, Shining Path). When buying heroin on the other hand, you might be supporting oppressed ethnic minorities in Myanmar.

If anything, the PSA should be taken as an indictment of the drug war, not the casual drug user.

I don't think the war on drugs is responsible for the existince of FARC or similar groups. Blame Uncle Sam all you want, but know that every line of blow that one consumes symbolizes a fraction of a carbomb. ;)

it's nearly a 50/50 split. how close was the polling on downgrading possession to a non-criminal offense or whatever it is now?

I don't think it was as close in regards to a criminal offense.

I think the medical marijuana law was 63 percent in favor.

They've got work to do in Massachusetts, although it's early.

I sort-of agree with that poster. Denver is a great place, somewhere I might like to live one day, but I'd don't think I would like it nearly as much if pot was used everywhere. At home, in designated bars, I don't care, that's the individual's prerogative. I just don't want to be eating outside in a restaurant and get a contact high.

Contact high. lol. I was at a Sublime concert a couple of years ago at Red Rocks. The whole place looked like a giant cloud. I didn't get a contact high. I also didn't get a contact high from the kids tripping on acid. Heh. Go figure.

One other thing, native Coloradoans don't want anyone moving here. They're the proverbial Walt Kowalski. They only want you to spend your money - then go straight home after your vacation.

Cool story, bro.

I don't think contact high is a real thing, broken_iris. More of a psychological thing.

That part about the natives being hostile to "immigrants" from other states is a real thing though.

Well, pot never did shit for me but make me sleepy and give me a headache... which I have gotten just being around it, so I am willing to concede your point on the grounds it may have worked for you.

I really miss smoking pot. I was a regular user until my son was born and it never interfered with my education or career. Something about being stoned when caring for my son felt wrong so I quit and I feel like my ability to handle stress has nosedived.

Coo story, bro? :P

I can see your point though. I get annoyed about people smoking cigarettes. Can't stand the smell or that burning sensation I get in my eyes. And I do get headaches around someone that is wearing too much perfume or cologne.

This could be partially due to many of the immigrants trying to import California's politics, to the detriment of Colorado.

I haven't smoked pot since George W. Bush was president. I tried it recently to see if it would relieve my chronic back pain and it was amazing. I had 24 hours of pain relief.
I know there are side effects but they can't be any worse than the 1600 mgs of ibuprofen I ingest every day.
