If he's discovered Nietzsche I'm afraid his power levels are going to surge off the charts. This man is going to take us not just to Mars, but distant galaxies.

Yeah.
Owning a media company is on every billionaire's wishlist, and Twitter is arguably the most influential. He didn't just one-up Bezos, he crushed him. Bezos thinks like the old guard rich, thinking that Washington Post matters. Bezos lacks the vision.
I think Thiel had some hand in Truth Social and Rumble. Rumble might have legs, but Truth Social is done (if it can ever be said to have started).
We're just spectators and extras in this play. These are the main characters.

Are you suggesting Twitter is the most influential media company? I'm not sure I can agree with that. According to a quick google search just now, The Wash Post has at least twice as many readers as Twitter has users. Then there's Facebook, which I assume dwarfs both.

Does anyone under 70 actually engage with anything on Facebook?

Yes, especially if you have kids.
I should have been more specific - does anyone under 70 actually engage with anything beyond family photos on Facebook?

I don't know about where you live, but we have town specific forums, including an "unplugged" forum that is similar to this N&D sub-forum. Yes, people engage, at least 'round these parts. I mean, it's not as smart as this forum - you can tell who are the old, angry folks and who are the young, smug college kids...

Around here most of the busy body local stuff has moved to that Nextdoor app.
