Former U.S. president Donald Trump has overtaken his successor, Joe Biden, in popular support, a new poll reveals.
Fifty-one percent of 1,578 registered U.S. voters considered Trump to be the better leader, while 49 per cent prefer Biden, according to the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll online survey taken between Sept. 15 and 16.
The poll could indicate that multiple crises, including a COVID resurgence and the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, have marked a shift in voter’s perception of Biden.
“The mounting issues on all fronts have led to the surprise conclusion that Trump is now seen as good a president as Biden, suggesting the honeymoon is being replaced now with buyer’s remorse,” said Mark Penn, co-director of the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey.

Some senior officials inside the CIA and the Trump administration even discussed killing Assange, going so far as to request “sketches” or “options” for how to assassinate him. Discussions over kidnapping or killing Assange occurred “at the highest levels” of the Trump administration, said a former senior counterintelligence official. “There seemed to be no boundaries.”
White House officials briefed Trump and warned him that the matter could provoke an international incident — or worse. “We told him, this is going to get ugly,” said the former official.
As the debate over WikiLeaks intensified, some in the White House worried that the campaign against the organization would end up “weakening America,” as one Trump national security official put it, by lowering barriers that prevent the government from targeting mainstream journalists and news organizations, said former officials.

Yeah it’s wicked weird how people who built their entire lives on the first amendment are interested in reporting stories that challenge the first amendment

Reporters believe themselves some special protected class. There's no reason for that to be so.
Assange shouldn't be murdered because he's a noncombatant and he hasn't had his day in court.
Him being a jorno is line item 1000 of 1000 reasons not to murder him.

Riiiight... But do you think it's somehow misguided for journalists to have perceived an existential 1A threat from the Trump White House, and to report on a story that illustrates that threat?

They are empowered to promote their self interest in the public sphere more than most.
Existential threat? Hope you didn't lose your smelling salts.

Here's the weasel phrase:

Did they never plan to kidnap or kill him before? Is that what is unprecedented? What exactly was unprecedented? They don't say, and probably for a reason.
