That suggests that he made it up after reading an article about the Cruz murder.
What made me suspect the murder was made up was the fact that he made himself to be the protagonist of it all.

I read that article two weeks ago and told my wife all about it. We stayed at a hotel this weekend and spent the first twenty minutes or so in the room trying to figure out where all the cameras/spy holes were.

I can't imagine the cops doing their due diligence in cities with more crime than Irvine. She would have been totally boned if this had happened almost anywhere else.

From personal experience, all I can say is that they take traffic infractions very seriously.
