The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.

I thought the bump was going to be about Desantis banning AP African American History.

While in general I am supportive of getting CRT-derived content out of schools, it's really stupid to go after something that actually promotes academic knowledge and scholarship vs critical theory nonsense. I say this not knowing anything about why they targeted that one.

Could the curriculum of AP African American History be anything other than CRT derived content in the year of our Lord 2023?

So College Board announced that they'll be revising the course (presumably with less CRT influence), the new curriculum should be released in February.

Any info on what pushed DeSantis to do it? I thought I saw something about writing an essay on prison abolition, but it wasn't from a reputable source.

Mostly about the reading material not offering much in the way of opposing views.

I witnessed the following today. You guys do what you want with it. The customer in the line next to me (black middle aged woman) was purchasing some supplies and had the following conversation with the checker (white teenage female).
(I was in the process of paying for my stuff at the same time and the swiper machine prompted me to make a donation to something. I didn’t read to see what it was for I just declined. Let’s give the customer a break below for peppering the checker, she didn’t create the policy she’s just there ringing up staplers for minimum wage, but you could tell the customer was pretty put out by it.)
Customer: What’s this for?
Checker: Oh it’s to support black and hispanic owned small businesses.
Customer: Oh so how do you support them?
Checker: It’s a financial donation.
Customer: Yeah but how are they being supported?
Checker: It’s like the red cross. They do a fundraiser and the money is donated to charity.
Customer: Well yeah you’re supposed to give money to charity but that’s not how business works!

If she's got a problem with the policy then she should take it up with the corporate office. There's no point hassling a low level employee. She's just being an asshole.

Maybe I didn’t explain this well. My point isn’t about her hassling the checker - she was kinda half laughing while questioning the specifics of the policy.
This is more about her stance on the policy itself.

I don't know what kind of person would expect the cashier to explain the corporate charitable program, but I also don't know why the cashier, didn't say, "I'm sorry, I don't know. There may be some information on our website."
I thought this was Staples, but you just said they were buying staples, anyhow, I googled them. If you were at Staples, I bet they use donations to save themselves money when making purchases from minority owned suppliers. Very altruistic of them. https://www.staples.com/sbd/cre/noheade ... plier.html
