Also, now I'm reading that not only is freakin' Tony Abbott still the Coalition leader, but is leading in the polls? Yikes.

While the Liberals are still favoured to win the election, Abbott's personal popularity is still relatively low. I presume most people are intending to vote Liberal despite, rather than because of, Tony.

So, we're having one of those election thingies next month.

Oh, I don't know, the whole ordeal is quite dispiriting.

I'd prefer the Liberals to win, in the sense that it would be more tolerable than the alternative by a very small margin, but the idea of an Abbott-fronted government is hardly worth cheering.

so Australian politics is basically American politics with a better accent then.

Our country is in a pretty great place right now compared with most western countries. I can't help but feel Abbott would fuck all that up for us regular peeps.
