A SCJ being nominated by a President who is under investigation, to roll back and undo countless important rulings that affect the constitution AND THEN protect the president when he finally is brought to book, should be an automatic No. how is it even on the table?
I dont know....keeping a conservative judge off the supreme court feels like a win to me. *shrugs*
1) Trump is still in control of the nomination process. There is no guarantee he will not nominate someone more conservative should the Kavanaugh nomination fail. Someone like Amy Barrett Cohen, who has expressed far less respect for precedent and stare decisis than Kavanaugh, particularly when it comes to the abortion windmill at which everyone seems so eager to tilt. This falls in the category of "be careful what you wish for."
2) I'm sure you were as equally nonplussed when the Republicans employed a "the means justify the ends" approach to keep Merrick Garland off the bench, yeah?
