What’s your take on the gerrymandering decision?

Partyline vote gives the travel ban a Supreme Court victory.

Disappointing. Between this and the travel ban case Kennedy's really being cowardly to end this term.

Although that doesn't really seem like someone who would want to retire with Trump choosing his replacement.

Several others have been speculating that. Reasonable guess, but only Kennedy himself knows.

Also, there is zero mechanism for Democrats to pull a Garland until 2020, correct? If they win the House (which seems more likely) but don't win the Senate (which seems more likely), Democrats will still be out in the cold until Trump is voted out or they turn the Senate two years later. The House isn't involved in Supreme Court nominations at all, correct?

I'm fine with it, as long as people who refuse to pay the dues are stripped of any pay raises negotiated by the union, overtime pay, health insurance, holiday leave, and grievance procedures.

Unions have been giving workers benefits for so long, people don't see how much better off they are b/c of them.

That would backfire immediately. All the employer would have to do is give disproportionate raises and leave to the people who opt out and then the union likely goes away entirely.
