ST is exactly correct. The Constitution doesn’t specify any qualifications are necessary to hold the position of Supreme Court Justice.

Recall that W nominated someone who had never served as a judge (Harriet Miers), although she withdrew before any formal proceedings took place.

And this is exactly why the lack of formal qualifications are irrelevant.

The qualification is that a president nominates you and the Senate confirms. Unless the Senate is recessed, in which case the only requirement is that the president nominates you.

So technically the president could nominate bammer.

He does have experience in the courtroom.
