Has it always been this way where if you lean to one particular side you have to absolutely 100% locked in to every single take on every single issue? Why can’t someone call themselves a Dem and be for gun control, abortion access, etc. but also be for reduced taxes. Why can’t someone be democratic but acknowledge that a Repub has at least a couple of good ideas. |

I'd say most of the people I know fall somewhere on the ideological spectrum without adhering to every single position of each side's major party (in the case of the US, Democrats vs. Republicans). In fact, they're often openly scornful of them. |
