New Brezny rings totally accurate (assuming things start moving forward for me in a few more weeks):

Quote:
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
There is no such thing as a plant that blooms continuously. Phases of withering and dormancy are just as natural as phases of growth. I bring this fact to your attention to help you remain poised as you go through your own period of withering followed by dormancy. You should accept life's demand that you slow down and explore the mysteries of fallowness. You should surrender sweetly to stasis and enjoy your time of rest and recharging. That's the best way to prepare for the new cycle of growth that will begin in a few weeks.

I'm finding that it's helping me to be more logical. Frankly, it's not any weirder to me than seeing a therapist.

One of my favorite quotes about astrology:

"Astrology is believed by a great many people who know next to nothing about it, and dismissed by a great many people who know ABSOLUTELY nothing about it."

That would take a lot of time and effort. I may start with some more general overviews.

There are many ways to describe the one universe, and if they are not in direct conflict with one another, they can all be "related".

Theosophy is more about God and spirit, and things that make us all the same. Astrology is kind of at the other end of that, describing that which makes each of us unique, and yet we all experience the same ideas, events, and emotions at different points in our lives.

For example, in numerology, people love to “reduce” numbers by adding the digits and then treating it as if it has the “same value” as the sum of its digits. But all of these reductions are dependent on using a base 10 number system, which is completely arbitrary and based only on the number of fingers us bald monkeys happen to have. For example, take the number 47. In base 10, it reduces down to 11, and then to 2. However in base 8, forty-seven would be written “57”, which would reduce down to twelve (written “14”), which reduces down to 5. In base 12 forty-seven is “3E”, which reduces to fourteen (“12”), which reduces to 3. Completely arbitrary.

One of the reasons I have a fondness for astrology is that astrological time is actually tied to astronomical events much more than our standard calendar is. Why does our year start on January 1, and date 10 or so days after the winter solstice)? The answer is knowable, but very arbitrary. Astrology is much simpler and tied to nature. For example, a day lasts from sunrise to sunrise, and while days are not all of equal length, they are tied to a specific astronomical event. The astrological year begins at 0 Aries, the vernal equinox. It doesn’t matter if that is March 21 or March 22, or if it occurs at 10am or 3 pm or what. A “year” lasts from one 0 Aries to the next 0 Aries, and 0 Aries is a MOMENT that is directly tied to the relationship between the positions of the sun and earth.

The year is then further divided into 12 equal signs of the zodiac. 12 is also a non-arbitrary number for dividing a circle, which is why we have 12 hours on a clock and 360 degrees of direction on a circle. Now here is some interesting “numerology” that is NOT arbitrary. 6 is a very special number because it is 1+2+3 and it is 1x2x3. More simply, it is the lowest number divisible by 2 and 3. The lowest number divisible by 2, 3 and 4? 12. The lowest number divisible by 2, 3, 4 and 5? 60. 60 minutes and seconds are not arbitrary divisions of time. They are SIMPLE divisions of time. Being able to divide into whole numbers is very useful.

Astrology also tracks the movement of other bodies that are not as regular as the sun, but which are useful in marking time. The moon cycle (the “month) is the time from one conjunction of the moon and sun to the next (about 29 days). As the moon affects the tides it affects many other cycles on earth, and is certainly useful to keep a record of.

Astrology seems to be a popular area of interest for medical office staff, based on my limited sampling. I'm guessing there's a huge gender disparity on this topic.

Is this thing more popular with women that aren't seriously affiliated with a religion, or is there a lot of overlap?

Oh there's a majority overlap I'd reckon cause they both are working on the immagination, faith, no proof or common sense muscles. These ppl believe in ghosts and psychics and love Disney movies too. I married one. We have an agreement to respect one another. It's challenging at times. Theresa Caputo is such a skank.

Is the agreement that you don't cross the threshold of talking about astrology, and she won't kick your ass?
