Casey Anthony- Likely murdered her daughter, and got famous for it. (wait, is that a photoshop?)
Lil wayne- numerous arrests, and hospitalizations for (likely) drug related seizures
Whitney Houston- Before dying of her addiction spent the better part of a decade as a total basket case
Amy Winehouse- major addiction problems that led to a young death.. same with Cobain. and Morrison. and Hendrix.
Snoop Dogg- was involved in a murder.
Survived significant addiction Problems.. Billy Joe armstrong, Robert Downey, Russell brand, eminem.
Rick Ross- Wrote a song advocating rape basically.


Rolling Stone, despite their "cool factor" have ALWAYS glorified questionable life choices, some with tragic results. And to a large degree, their cover had become irrelevant, and with one single act, they have attached a meaning to it again. If not for this article how many people on this music based message board could name a cover that was released in the last year?

I not only totally am okay with the cover, I think it was pretty brilliant in terms of marketing and more importantly in terms of starting a discussion. Most covers get you to maybe open up a magazine and read an article.. this one has you TALKING about it. It's forced people to examine what Rolling Stone is saying, and it seems like a pretty important point. This kid could be anyone, and that picture on the front not only reminds us of that, it makes the entire point with just one shot.
