Decentralized social media has been gaining steam lately. I'm all for decentralization, but I don't understand how decentralization addresses any of the problems he mentions in the thread. Thread: |

If the impeachment has shown me anything on social media it's that I have wack a doos for friends on both sides. My personal favorite post was from a Trump supporter who thought it was unfair that people can make fun of [Trump's] skin color. What if it is a skin condition instead of a choice. If anyone made rude remarks about Obama's skin color all hell would break loose". |

Facebook’s own researchers determined that the system as designed encourages the growth of extremism by (among other things) consistently promoting content to you that is a rhetorical escalation of whatever political content and claims you gravitate to in general. Facebook leadership responded by shelving the research and shutting down efforts to de-escalate the conspiracy/hate promotion. |

They unpersoned Molyneux this week. I figure they'll periodically remove a few far right people here and there until the election (but not all at once), then sometime after they'll switch to removing some leftists. It's all part of the plan. |

We’ve recently jumped onto the Ring/Neighbors app... ummm... I can very much see how this drives a bigoted fear of crime. |
