I guess this is a funny gotcha, but the guy just used an old picture before the game to say he was excited about the game. Our time is probably better served talking about his hatred of women, gays, and the poor.

I think you have to pay royalties to Trump for your use of the word "fake" there, buddy.

Trump says he's going to attack the tax exemption for the NFL. That's the kind of thing that would help communities though so it's kind of weird.

So, in the AM today, Trump tweets about getting rid of the NFL's tax exemption:

Then, this afternoon, Roger Goodell sends a memo to teams that sounds like the league may require players to stand for the anthem soon:

You think they would've at least waited a day.

Mike Ditka, "There has been no oppression in the last 100 years that I know of,” Ditka said. “Now maybe I’m not watching it as carefully as other people. I think the opportunity is there for everybody — race, religion, creed, color, nationality. If you want to work, if you want to try, if you want to put effort in, you can accomplish anything.”

Nothing bad has happened since 1917.

1917.

To be honest, it's about time there was a break away organisation. Not being able to play unless you could afford to go uni, seriously...

If more protests focused on Jim Crow, where there is indisputable evidence of of systemic and legally enforced racism against people who are walking on the streets today, IMO we would get a lot closer to a point where most people can empathize with the lasting effect of the history of black America.

This is the most depressing sentence I think I've ever read.

Sure, but do you agree or disagree?

I guess I am just not conservative enough to be offended but a legal, peaceful, brief protest that does not directly effect me.

I believe that the majority of white Americans who currently feel no or minimal empathy for people of any particular color are not now, or ever going to be, an argument, observation, or a strategy away from grasping at that basic human understanding.
