Peter King won't seek reelection.

why don't progressives seem to have as much of a boner for Bernie any more?

is it because we fantasized about him so much over the last 4 years, self-loving to thoughts of him, that now that it's time for the big event we're interested in checking out some other piece of tail bc we feel like we tapped dat already so many times?

Bernie is the only person i get excited listening to speak in the Dem field

I would / will vote Bloomy if he gets the nom, but he doesn't get me 'amped' when he speaks... more like he makes me feel like 'ample' governance is in place...

Bernie's words makes me tingle. i bern for him.

Former Republican Elizabeth Warren successfully stole most of the socialist's positions. And people totally believe she's for real!

So many new posts in this thread over the weekend about Mr. Bloomberg, and unless I missed it, I didn't see "stop and frisk" mentioned at all. I don't know why anyone thinks this Dem party, dependent on minorities & "woke" whites is going to let that slide. I hope he qualifies for a debate just to see them all pile on him when the subject comes up. And do any of you really believe he can skip the first 4 states and then do well on Super Tuesday? :shake:

Yeah I hadn’t considered stop and frisk, I agree that’s a big vulnerability.

Corey Booker seems to be doing ok despite have used that technique as well.

He's also a guy who has changed political parties over and over again depending on how it benefitted him at the time. He also decided he should have an extra term as mayor of NYC because he was such a big brained billionaire and only he could be in charge.

If by doing okay you mean plowing Rosario Dawson, sure. But he's nowhere as far as the primary is concerned.

‘stop and frisk’ will obviously be the wokemon rallying cry against him

it’s unfortunate, because they seem to want to dismantle all of the Dem candidates that could fare well in a general election

Bloomberg is not a racist

He had to manage a city that was rampant with crime in certain areas

there’s not a lot of great solutions out there for something like that (insert idealist counterpoint rant) so sometimes you just need to take a practical approach

NYC didn’t devolve into a Chicago so i guess it kind of worked

I'm pretty sure Peter King is neither sick of Trump or worried about getting reelected. I think it's safe to assume whatever reason he gave for retiring is the real reason.

Even under catastrophic political conditions, which this seems to qualify as, the majority of retirements don’t come from people in insecure districts. They tend to come from more senior individuals, who don’t care to spend precious remaining years waiting around, on the off chance that someday they’ll be able to reclaim the valuable committee assignments they know they’re about to lose.

That’s who the red flag retirement group is: senior, liked party leaders who will get first dibs on the most desired assignments, when fortune reverses...but are quitting anyway.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of these statements except the bolded. Not sure the evidence shows it. Crime is down in most cities and continues to fall post Stop & Frisk.

I just see the arguments for Bloomberg and think:
