I would vote for Hogan over most of the Democratic field. Including probably Biden right now, bc he's clearly not physically up to it.

But if I could wish Bernie in to the WH I'd take it. I think he'd do a better job getting disruptive (yet responsible/sustainable) changes passed, relative to the attempts of the other radical transformationist candidates.

If Warren wins, it will be interesting to see how Chuck Schumer's role evolves. I figure he will need to talk her off a cliff or two in order to get legislation passed.

How will Warren's idealism manifest itself after deep-diving on a particular topic / bill, and coming to the point of the hard-stop choices; and realizing that neither will be the woke/utopian option? Will she throw a tantrum and sit idle? Will she try to rule via executive order? Or will she select the 'less bad' option for the sake of making some incremental progress (and thereby become <gasp> a moderate)?

She is obviously very book smart and her heart is in the right place. My guess is she would try to make some kind of disruptive campaign promise a priority but once she realizes it won't happen she will just play ball and accept a something more modest. She'll probably be dealing with some kind of economic meltdown by then anyways (perhaps ignited by market reaction to her being elected in the first place).

All you fellow Gen Xers rallying behind boomers and billionaires really disappoints me.

interesting article on NYT about Bloomy’s strategy. Basically skipping the first four small-delegate primaries and focusing on super tuesday.

I don’t think Bloomberg can win that way. I also think it will be hard late because the people who vote in primaries and show up for caucuses are predominantly the types to get wed to candidates and settle into their picks rather than just get caught up in the excitement of “hey, that guy just entered so I am going for it”. I don’t see the end game here other than banking on Biden to completely implode.

Bidens already gone, the Ukraine thing got him. There are enough people who remember socialisms terrors in the 20th century to know where Bernie’s path leads and Warren is increasingly unhinged with the progressive crap. I am far more worried about 2020 than I was a month ago, but Bloomberg is the answer. Environmentalist, strong on crime, has the same “successful in business” appeal Trump supporters claim they like, does not want mass deportations, etc.

Also it would be easy for Trump to blast Warren for being socialist Pocahontas, and Bernie for Ukraine, etc...But I’m having a tough time coming up with a criticism against Bloomberg that Trump could lodge.

I mean, it really seems like all this does is fuck things up even more for the democratic ticket. I think they had a slim chance at winning anyway, because it all seems so disorganized, but now this just throws another, albeit small, wrench into things. The only chance they have now is if there is an impeachment before the election. Otherwise, it really feels like the always-trumpers will be out in full force next year.
