Biden is a terrible candidate. His age aside, I can’t grasp how he was ever in serious consideration after his disgraced 1988 run.

If this is what the primary system throws up, I’m grateful Australian political parties just choose a candidate internally and get on with it.

I'm not sure the results would have been different in this case. He embodies the party establishment perfectly.

Yeah lmao I wish we lived somewhere where the party would just choose a candidate, unlike America where we ended up with Joe Biden because that's what we wanted the most.

I’m not convinced, though I could be wrong (and this is all hypothetical in any case).

Would Biden have even been in the conversation unless he had to be a countervailing force against a wave of popular Bernie-ism?

I guess I’m saying a primary system seems (at least in contemporary times) to create some strange incentives and dynamics which result in candidates like Trump and Biden.

Oh no I agree, I just couldn't resist given how much the DNC put their thumb on the proverbial scale this year (which was not the case, afaik, with Trump).

It’s just insane to me that Biden - a disgraced ancient oddball - is the best person for the job.

Can’t the Dems find someone boring, sensible and competent? Is that so hard?

Of a nation of 320 million people, I'm being asked to choose between two to run the country. I consider it a minor miracle I've ever remotely liked any of the candidates in my lifetime. It just doesn't feel surprising to me that with those numbers, I'm choosing between the least worst option. And that's pretty straightforward this time.

You should embrace accelerationism.

I didn't want it to have to come to this, but y'all just won't drop it!
Oprah would be the worst (2nd worst).
Status quo, "feel good", popular consensus, deodorized non-candidate.
