The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
He means in terms of keeping the police officer safe.
This Kajieme Powell thing is sad as fuck but unfortunately I don't see how it could've gone differently considering his actions.
i cant see how an armed person being told by two police officers to put the knife down and get on the ground yet still walks towards them can end any other way.

I don't agree with that.
Tasers and pepper spray are both pretty damn effective. Those officers never appeared to entertain the idea of anything other than killing him if he didn't cooperate.

if they had pulled out tasers then its a different story. but given the recent climate down there i have no problem pulling the guns out. id have to imagine they had to have thought for an instant it would go bad but were praying it wouldnt. but thats just conjecture on my part.

That's a pretty good read. CNN had an officer on earlier today and they basically said the same thing while watching the video, knives are lethal at that range and in this case the guy was saying "kill me" and "shoot me" and then got to higher ground and moved towards the police in-spite of their commands (the look of frustration on the anchor's face was both amusing and tragic).

I immediately believe that.

Yeah, this doesn't exactly seem like police gone wild, here. The response just isn't that far away from understandable.

The thing that I don't understand about this is if it's true, why are we only finding out about it 10 days after it happened? If the cop had a fractured face, that would be known immediately. So why wouldn't they report that right away, since it's pretty credible and justifiable that a cop with a broken face had to shoot a much bigger guy attacking him?

One of the most tragic things about the Brown case, should he turn out to be the aggressor, is that people will associate future occurrences of police violence with all the hype and hysteria of this one. The media is creating a "cry wolf" situation here that will shade future discussions of the legitimate issues beyond Michael Brown that drove the community to protest.
unfortunately, the current page of this thread is blocked at my office for adult material, so i'll have to point out broken iris's avuncular concern regarding black violence now, and wait until i get home to see what people think of it.
