The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
The cynical me says this is just a way to meet DEI quotas.
The hopeful me says this is a way to quietly acknowledge that an undergrad degree is now no better than a high school diploma at signalling fitness and requiring one means you miss out on many amazingly talented folks who might not have been privileged enough to pay for college or who arrived here as adults.

What's with the deep ideological dedication to opposing phonics? Do they have a justification, or were they all just taught that phonics doesn't work and refuse to revisit the topic?
Lots of reactions in the community on this. We're not sure what the next course of action is.

Seems like a bigger issue than it used to be in the era of SAT optional applications. Is there any particular reason why the National Merit organization doesn't contact students directly?

It's determine by Junior/3rd year PSAT scores and reported to schools (I think because what school wouldn't promote how awesome they are by proxy of their great student(s)). Last I checked schools register students for the PSAT, it's not typically something students can sign themselves up for like the SAT, which begs the question of WHY offer the test if you don't want the results?
Really odd and detrimental. And not just detrimental to the kid who scored high and didn't get to flaunt it. Also detrimental to the kid in another part of the state that would have qualified had this kid (who's school isn’t going to tell them how they did) not taken it and scored higher.

So, on any given day my district has a number of buses out of action due to lack of drivers. Are we just going to revert back to segregated schools soon?

checking in on public schools
"She said she has spoken to administration about bullying since it’s affected her two eldest children, but she says the principal, assistant principal and even a counselor have done nothing about it, with the principal telling her they are overwhelmed and advising her to withdraw her children from the school."
B, is it at all concerning that your reaction to a defenseless 9 year old girl getting viscously beaten by a group of older kids in a racially motivated attack is to first joke about shooting kids then try and call out some slightly prejudiced remark about the attackers? Not what I expected.

Oh my god. That's the most sanctimonious thing you have ever posted on this board

Do mothers do a poor job of teaching respect for females?
Look up the two attackers and let me know if I was wrong
I didn't say you were wrong. I was wondering how you came to the conclusion that those kids didn't have a father at home.
