One sign the Russian economy remains under severe pressure is that inflation in Russia is more than double the rate in the U.S. That's creating pressure for Russians to move their money out of the country, said Frankel of the Harvard Kennedy School.

Russian Central Bank can't loosen their policies or all this value disappears. But they can't keep things the way they are because it's too expensive. Seems like a matter of time before something gives, no?

I am not educated enough on this topic to respond, but here's some recent links that imply a different take:

Thanks, yeah, not super educated about all these moving parts myself. My quote was from the first link I saw after looking up what could happen.

Russia selling Ukraine deliberately bad arms has got to be reason enough for India to think twice about their deals.

Also, simultaneously has to mean huge deals for US arms dealers, especially with NATOs announcement today to expand their personnel/equipment.

India is pretty reliant on Russian cruise missiles and aircraft engines. They'd probably have to switch to entirely different airframes. They went with the Rafael if I'm not mistaken, but they can't replace their entire force with this one model.

Most of NATO aircraft procurement now is European countries upgrading to F-35s and then transferring some of their F-16s to Eastern European countries. I don't think there is a capacity to replace former USSR aircraft as well. Greece and Turkey are at the back of the queue waiting for replacements for their F-4s, are they going to be jumped in line?

This whole business does seem to justify the F-20 Tigershark, a shame we didn't proceed with it. Good opportunity for the Gripen, no idea what their production capacity is like.

A lot of your reply has details I have no understanding of, but are you agreeing or not?

I had masters of war lyrics in my head whilst posting last night.

Seems like steady gains, but certainly not at the scale that most expected when Russia invaded.

Maybe optimism for this area.

«Lavrov says Russia's aims in Ukraine now go beyond Donbas»

The only surprise is them openly admitting it now.

I can't help but think this is a justification to slow roll support. Does the West want a frozen conflict in Ukraine as Russia has in Georgia and elsewhere? Handing out HIMARS 4 at a time has a certain look. We could have flooded Ukraine with M109s and just chose not to.

The one thing the Air force is really for is dumping all the A-10s on Ukraine so they can finally be rid of them.
