While I’m not too thrilled at the resource management aspects and don’t always go hog-wild for things like character customization and ship/base building, the core of this game looks really, really good. It’s still startling how many mechanics seems to be copy/pasted from No Man’s Sky, which I did play a good deal of, but I always found the story there to be so hollow. You’ve got the basic Fallout/Elder Scrolls choose-a-faction stuff going on here it seems, but I’ve always been a fan of that, and I don’t think it’s going to change, especially in such a pretty package.

I thought the gunplay looked horrible when this was first revealed. Have they improved that at all? Or can you at least use turn based combat the whole time a la Fallout?
The space travel looks amazing tho. That does have me interested.

Gunplay looked fine in the footage from yesterday, as far as I know, nothing like VATS in the base game, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was slo-mo or something like that available as a perk.

Yeah I wasn't expecting much out of this one after the showing last year but that deep dive def changed my perspective here. I boxed my Series X up months ago because there's really nothing in the MS world that's interested me over the last year, until now anyway
Earlier today, as spotted by Wario64, a Twitter user asked the official Bethesda Support Twitter account if "the physical standard edition of Starfield for Series X" includes a disc, with the support account responding, "Hello! All physical editions include a code for the chosen platform. There are no physical discs." The tweet from Bethesda Support has since been deleted.

Considering that consumers already paid more for the version of the console that plays discs, it's a bit much to sell the physical version without an actual disc. While the transition to digital only is inevitable, we aren't there yet. AAA games that have physical versions need to contain discs. Physical forever. The only way the consumer actually speaks is with their wallet - I'm out on Alan Wake 2, the first AAA release without a physical version, and I'm out on any disc-less physical version.
I'm sure Starfield: Ultimate Edition will be released in a few years, maybe that will have a disc and I'll grab that.
I regret buying the Starfield controller.

I'm not hung up on physical versions - as you say, digital-only is inevitable and I'm already here for it.
Developers and publishers need to be upfront about their releases. I can see a future where they sell collector's editions that feature all the physical paraphernalia that people still like but it's also understood that if you want the actual game then it's going to be separate from all that stuff, and that it's going to be digital-only.
"Starfield Standard Edition is included with Xbox Game Pass. Game disc included with physical purchases of Xbox Standard Edition. Game code included with physical purchases of PC Standard Edition."

Yeah, from what i understood yesterday, the physical edition with no game disc is the deluxe steel book—probably because they don’t have to make two editions of it (one for Series S and one for Series X).
