The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
At level 15 with about 16 hours in. I feel like I haven't made a dent yet. I've been keeping up with the activities. Can I belong to all the associations at the same time, i.e. Free Star Rangers, Vanguard, etc.? I don't want to commit, if I can only choose 1.

I hit my first real roadblock at the end of a questline where there’s a 4-part space battle, and in each part there are multiple ships trying to shoot you out of the sky. I knew space combat would be my least favorite part. I got to the last part and could just not make a dent, even though between segments you can go to a spaceport for repairs. I resisted the urge to downgrade the difficulty and I’m just going to try and level up a few times to get some space combat skills, then I’ll buy or build a tank of a spaceship with like no storage space and see how it goes.

Targeting control systems for space combat is essential, as well as a good ship. I love the space combat, but I also just got a legit ship for completing a faction questline so that helps.

How do you target systems? I'm happy when "lock" appears on the screen. My current ship, Razorback, isn't very good in combat.
It’s a skill on the far right of the skill tree and it’s huge. You have the ability to zoom in on a ship in slo-no and target their engine, missiles, shields, anything.

Yes, Sarah, I will make sure we’re well supplied for the trip to Cassiopeia. Thank you for the billionth time. Now please stop preventing me from exiting this room.

“I have something for you.” [hands you another leaf]
I finished the Terramorph quest line yesterday. Probably the best quest line that I finished thus far. Level 29.
After that questline, I brought Sarah (who was my companion the entire time) to a waterfall to tell her that I just wanted to be friends.
I already finished Sarah, Sam, and Barrett's companion questlines. OMG, Andreja never wants to talk. It's taking forever to trigger her quests. Does Vasco the robot have a questline?

The feelings toward this game seems to be turning decidedly negative.
I’m nowhere near done with the story but the game feels incomplete. Lots of “cool,” complex systems they built that seem to serve no lasting purpose (e.g. outposts, cargo routing, etc.). I don’t feel any real desire to spend time building an outpost.
I wrapped this up today. I did all the faction quests and just about all the sidequests that popped into my logs. I completed all the companion quests, however, I didn't have many companions. I feel the strict inventory detracted from the exploration aspect. If Vasco was a non-combat follower who only carried elements and biological finds while exploring planet surfaces, I would have actually explored planets. The weight of materials made surface exploration a must-skip. I didn't fiddle with outposts or ship building. I was level 43 with almost 80 hours.
