The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.

Damn. I’m at the final boss at level 137 and you’re in the Academy? You’re going to destroy them.
My biggest hang-up so far is my experience with other games where I just tank my way through everything. That's a recipe for disaster here and has caused no shortage of deaths, even on "easy" areas like the Academy. I've gotta be more patient--I can't just blaze my way through a crowd of Burger Kings if they're all together in a small room. (That's another hang-up I have: the desire to kill everything in every area versus just run by them, which would be much easier.)
I could only get the Red Wolf down to half HP and finally realized I couldn't summon my spirit ashes because I'd activated the summoning pool before I went into the room. Back at him tonight.
I'm also pretty sure I'm not using the best weapon, shield and armor I could. I've barely touched any magic. I used a bow for the first time with the zombie chicken. I've got a lot to learn.

With fights like that, it's all about the timing of the roll
Yeah, I had the timing down reasonably well but my instinct every time I have an opening is to start spamming the attack button. I typically hit it one or two many times and then get smoked. I have to re-wire my brain.

Yeah, patience is important too. Do you know about the jump heavy attack? Several of those in a relatively short time frame usually leads to him being stunned for a big attack.

I do now!
I've gotten this far without making much use of the jump attack. Guess i'm just not using it right because i was not aware that several of them in a row would stun an enemy

I'm to the serpent dude. Was late, but made it to the second phase on my first try. Back to it tonight.
Finished that dude today. He's not bad until he starts raining those flaming skulls down on you for what seems like forever. Eventually managed to beat him after a half dozen attempts, pretty fun boss actually.
I'm into the mountaintop of giants how, i just had to make a swing back for that boss to complete the Volcano Manor quests.

I'm about there too.. but then I got sidetracked and got stuck on another boss, MOHG, LORD OF BLOOD, and haven't played in almost a week .. might have to forget the boss and just go tackle the giants mountain

Yeah, I finished him pretty quickly. Just beat the snake and then used my Mimic Tear Spirit Ash to distract the second phase. Easy peasy.
I'm using a guide to finish some of the early/mid game side quests in the event I want to get the platinum trophy.
