No. Too much in the backlog.

I understand, it is very similar for me. I think I have tried 65-70 games for the first time in 2018. Have only nominated games released in 2018 in this thread though.

I'm putting together my list later today. I still played a decent amount of 2018 releases.

My Top 5 2018 Games

1. God of War
Probably the best “video gamey” video game of all time, but with a story and characters that should stand the test of time. This has it all. It is equal parts a Metroidvania and Dark Souls game. The combat is engaging from the first enemy to the last. The leviathon axe instantly becomes one of the best video game weapons of all time. Combat just feels good, with enemies and your abilities scaling wonderfully without the player ever feeling too under or overpowered. The one shot, cinematic storytelling works really well with the slower pace of the story. I never felt rushed to complete the main quest, so exploring the world and being with the characters was a joy. In addition to the gameplay, the world is so colorful and gorgeous and the setting is relatively unique in games. It is also filled with so many wonderful surprises and winks to other games in the series and with Norse mythology. Something tells me with time this game will be in my top ten of all time.

2. Red Dead Redemption 2
Outside of Breath of the Wild, this has the most immersive open world of any game I’ve played. I never once felt obligated to go to something marked on my map. I sincerely hope more games mask what is a side quest and a main quest like this game does. It makes every interaction with the main cast seem important and worth doing. Arthur Morgan is a compelling, dynamic character and so are many of the other members of the gang. I actually remember most of their names! I adore the art style and the overall look of the game. It feels like a pastoral painting and the lighting/weather systems make for some stunning vistas. The cinematic storytelling might provide one of the best Western stories ever told, in any medium. The more RPG-like systems are mostly optional, but work in the context of the setting. You can choose how to play.
The gameplay is what prevents this from being in my top spot. The number/variety of items and the shooting mechanics are serviceable, but not really changed from other previous Rockstar games. Walking, running, and horseriding are clunky and often slow you down/prevent you from accomplishing missions. The missions are diverse, but you can’t stray too far or you’ll get the game over screen. Some checkpoints are comically/frustratingly far apart. Rockstar really needs to go back to the drawing board for how they approach their open world gameplay (similar to Bethesda). It is holding their games back.

3. Hollow Knight
I’m counting this as a 2018 game, even though it came out on PC in 2017. It was released on consoles in 2018. What an absolute gem. In a genre that has seen hundreds of titles over the years this one is in the top tier. The art style is evocative, moody, but with enough variety to distinguish each area of the map. The gameplay is challenging, but fair. Some bosses tested me, but could be beaten once their patterns were understood. The simple mechanic of choosing to use your meter to either heal or unleash special attacks is implemented perfectly and should be duplicated in other titles. The backtracking, a staple of the genre, never felt like a chore. It allows the player to seek out upgrades and characters. The pacing is good. This is a game I will revisit.

4. Smash Bros. Ultimate
The best Smash Brothers game yet, a playable Video Game Museum. The sheer amount of characters, levels, music, and modes is overwhelming. It is fast, fluid, and full detailed. I feel like I have just barely scratched the surface of what this game holds (and I’ve played around 20-25 hours). Each character is unique and filled with the history of their franchise. I just wish I had more controllers to play this with friends.

5. Celeste
Platforming at its finest (or splatforming if you prefer that subgenre). In this game, you will die a lot, but it never seems to punishing with the instant restart and precise jumping mechanics. The idea of connecting mental health and depression/anxiety with this genre is genius and provides the framework for a pretty compelling story. It doesn’t seem ham-fisted or forced and it connected with me more than I initially thought. I’m not sure I will well every get all the ridiculously tough B-sides in this game. Highly recommend for platforming afficionados.

Honorable Mentions for Games Played in 2018 (not just 2018 releases; first playthroughs)

Spider-Man
I wanted to put this in my top 5, but the repetitiveness of the enemies and side missions made it slip to 6. Everything else is top shelf stuff. They nailed the Spider-Man feel.
Shadow of the Colossus
The game finally clicked with this remake. Really glad I gave this another shot.
Yoshi’s Island
So charming and fun. I like it more than Super Mario World (the cape is OP).
NBA 2k19
The best entry in the franchise. The on court gameplay and insane amount of customization is unmatched. VC is slowly killing my interest in almost every mode though. Maybe dial it back a bit?
Pyre
A turn based basketball-like game set in a fantasy-like purgatory. Did not think I would enjoy this so much!

2018 Games Purchased but Have Yet to Play
Dead Cells
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Detroit: Too Human
Lumines Remastered

Fantastic list. Thank you. Superhappy with my Switch and Xbox One X, but I do wish I could play God Of War.
