The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.

This tournament will consist of matchups between franchises. You will be able to watch videos on YouTubes of the franchises games to decide if you haven't played them. Have a good day.

This is one tournament where I think the other format -- each RMer takes turns drafting their own "team" of videogames and then the teams are randomly matched against each other -- would really work.

It's not hard.
First, you need to put a call out to RMers to participate. You want an even number of participants. Then, you put the names of the paritcipants into a randomizer, which spits them back out in random order. Then, there will be a drafting thread (or I guess it could be the same thread where you put the call out. Or this thread). In the drafting thread, RMers will follow the randomized order to pick a video game. This will be done snake-style. That means that the order goes from 1 to 8 (for example), then 8 to 1, until each RMer has the required amount of videogames in their team. Part of the fun of this type of tournament is that everyone has their own videogames they want to pick, and the tension that comes from waiting for your turn and hoping nobody else picks it first is really great. Plus, picks are discussed as they come up.
Once you have the assembled teams, you just put them in the randomizer again to determine the matches. Then one by one, the board as a whole will vote on each individual match, until an RMer is crowned King of Videogames.
You can look at old threads to see how we've done it in the past. It is my favorite tournament format
