yeah they are easy to put together. Maybe one day I'll build some super overclocked, liquid cooled monstrosity.

Yeah, forget this.

An NVMe drive won't benefit you for rendering in Premiere Pro and PS.

Those confuse me. They seem to be limited in a few ways.

The new 2080ti is gonna suck 400 watts of power. I'm guessing it's gonna be similar for the entire 2K line from Nvidia.

You may want spend $20 more and get a 750W PSU if you wanna be future-proof, burt.

I'll probably hold on to this one for awhile, but I think I will switch to the Intel CPU.

I really wanted to get one of these when we were shopping for a new monitor but all of them were too short. I just did a search and now there's a "super" ultrawide format and that's just insane.

Hey burt, since you're switching to an Intel chip, you should add an Optane M.2 drive, I think you get them for like $50 on Amazon.

Combine that with your EVO and you'll be getting over 1K MB/s transfer speeds.

OK. I'm now about to build my new Windows machine and sell off my beloved 2012 Mac Mini.

Proc: Intel Core i5-8400 ($204)
Mobo: ASUS ROG Micro ATX Motherboard ($95)
Case: Thermaltake Core V21 SPCC Micro ATX ($59)
PSU: EVGA 500W ($40)
RAM: 16GB HyperX Predator Black 2666MHz DDR4 CL13 ($150)
GPU: Gigabyte GT 1030 ($90)
Optane: Intel Optane Memory Module 32 GB PCIe M.2 ($42)

~$700

I already have a 1TB Samsung 850 EVO that I'm gonna drop in.

Buddy of mine has the case and I love it. Not planning on doing any LEDs or anything, because I'm 45.

Image

I just don't need an i7 and the GT 1030 will be fine for my purposes. I don't really have that much time to game (occasional Fortnite, LoL and CS:GO) and when I do it's generally on the Switch. If I have to render something super beefy, I'll send it to my work render farm.

Have all the components, but haven't had time to build it yet.

Fry's Electronics had a crazy sale on Thermaltake PSUs, so I picked up a Toughpower Grand RGB 850W 80+ Platinum for $85(!!!!!).

If GPUs ever start coming down in price, it'll be nice to have some overhead for a Nvidia 2K series GPU.

I heard the new 2070 is a pretty
good price.

Building another rig for my friend at work.

Basically the AMD version of the rig I built for myself.

Proc: Ryzen 5 2600 ($149)
Mobo: ASrock b450m pro4 ($79)
Case: Thermaltake Core V21 SPCC Micro ATX ($56)
PSU: EVGA 500W ($40)
RAM: ADATA XPG GAMMIX D10 16GB 3000 MHZ ($80)
GPU: ASUS GT 1050ti ($135)
OS: W10 ($40 @ KINGUIN)

Pretty great build for $600.

Note: He already has a 1TB 860 EVO SSD.

I'm saving up for a big upgrade in 2020 from my 2016 rig, but an NVMe SSD is probably the thing that I'm most excited about.

Anyone who needs a stop-gap graphics card should check out eBay, someone flooded the place with RX 460s that were meant to go into HP OEMs.

You can generally pick one up for around $60. That's a great deal.

Acheived a 4.2 MHz overclock on my buddy's Ryzen 5 2600 at only 1.375 volts with a Noctua NH-U14S cooler.

Verified stable on Aida64 for 8 hours.

I have no idea what any of this means. But, sounds impressive!

"Gaming" mouses (mice?) are too fucking heavy. I always end up going back to my Amazon Basics mouse, but then lose out on all the extra buttons.

Why do all these fucking mice have to have all this ridiculous RGB garbage and be so fucking heavy?
