Thanks ST! It's all in the fine print. "Save UP TO 70%" with a picture of Death Stranding is not exactly encouraging. Capitalist pigs.
Would you prefer they give away games for free? That would probably lead to some pretty shitty games.
Apex Legends is free and it's amazing
Yeah but don't they still make money off of it somehow? How does everything work? I'm so confused.
In-game purchases, I assume.
Correct, it's all cosmetic stuff. The roll-out was great: Extremely polished free game that was immediately fun to play. They captured the Fortnight market pretty quick. But there's definitely been a dropoff in player count (though still very easy to get a match), and players are clamoring for new content. So we'll see how well this experiment works in the long run...
All I know is that it's a million times better than the typical EA/Dice model of delivering a half-finished game, charging $80 for the Deluxe version, and slowly getting it into working order over the next two years.

There's a seller on ebay doing a buy-2-get-1-free deal on used games, and I'm thinking of getting Fallout 76, Spider-Man, and Monster Hunter World for $26.

Got Prey, South Park: Stick of Truth, and Doom for 23 bucks. I was tempted to get Monster Hunter but the grind seems overwhelming. Tomb Raider was also on the radar. Thanks for the heads up.
No problem! 99% of the time I buy digital, but figured this was good enough to take the plunge.
I'm pretty much 50/50. I prefer to buy a lot of single player games digitally so I can eventually sell them back. If they go on sale digitally and I like them enough I will buy them there and sell the physical versions.
