The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
These days mostly platformers, action-heavy RPGs (nothing turn-based), puzzle games like Inside, shooters. I have a firm no crafting, no grinding policy.
Really I just want games I can jump in and out of quickly. I have like 30-45 minutes per night max to play games, and I hate spending half that time downloading updates, navigating menus, etc.

Some great indie games I've played (or plan to play) that will tickle your fancy...
Hollow Knight Steamworld Dig 2 Dead Cells, Velocity 2X, Shovel Knight, Celeste, Snipper Clips (great co-op game), The Messenger

My brother is coming to visit this weekend to meet the baby and see the house for first time. The way he was talking I'm thinking he might gift me MegaMan 11 as an early birthday present.

I'm probably late to the game on this one, but I've been playing Elliot Quest lately, which is also another fun platformer/metroidvania type game with some puzzles to solve here and there.
I can vouch for Shovel Knight and Celeste as great platformers. My kid is asking me to get him Dead Cells for his birthday, and I'm looking at Hollow Knight or The Messenger for myself.

Going through that list. A lot of the those games look great.
That's because they are. I left out a few other gems that have made their way to the Switch that are a bit older or found their initial popularity on other consoles:
Rocket League Inside Crash Bandicoot Trilogy Remastered Gone Home (overrated IMO, but critically acclaimed) Overcooked
