Started Ghost of Tsushima a couple nights ago -- huge thanks to MD for sending me his physical copy!

Took me a shameful two nights to get through the whole intro sequence, as I was solo parenting and time was limited. But anyway, last night I finally got the map to open up for my wanton exploration and hoo boy am I excited. The chance to explore feels intriguing, the fighting feels intuitive and fun, but overall the game still manages to feel very chilled out, which is a unique balance for a game to strike.

Wait, did Trag end up playing Little Nightmares? Those games are so underrated.

I had heard from some corners that Baldur's Gate 3 slows down a bit in the 3rd act, or that by the third act some of the mechanics start to feel old and a bit tired. I'm sort of feeling that now--Act 1 was just so fresh and new and there was so much to learn that I was pumping hours per day into it, and Act II was very challenging but had some thrilling moments that were very satisfying to conquer. Act III also feels different, which is great, I'm glad all three acts aren't same-y, but I don't feel as engaged or eager to play as I did earlier in the game. I may have played 2 hours over the past 2 weeks. Hoping to sink some more time in soon.

I hit the level cap in BG3, and I think that's my sign to start completing the main quest. There are some side quests that are still incomplete, but I think I'd be more interested in them if I was using other party members more regularly.

On to the Pixel Remaster of FF3. Probably my least favorite of the series so far and the only one I hadn't played before.

Finished Bulgar’s Gate 3 today, such a great game overall. So incredibly deep that there’s lots I didn’t do, and if I played again, I feel like I’d try to do a whole different story. The criticisms I heard about Act III are certainly fair, though.

MLB the Show on Tuesday! Then I’ll play another game in 6 months.

BG 3 was fantastic. I played through it a couple times with variation on decisions to get a different experience each time. Gave me real good Mass Effect vibes.

I'm enjoying Tsushima very much. I'm about to hit the Mongol territory that I think serves as the exit from this island, and the entrance to the next once.

So far I'd say it lacks the emotional connection of TLOU, which is still my modern benchmark; but it's damn better than something like Tomb Raider, or even Uncharted. I took your advice to play in Japanese with English subtitles, and I think that's helpful.

It never feels monotonous or mindless, it always feels like there's a level of care. But I do feel my character is getting OP too quickly, and I'm already blowing through fights. I might have to up the difficulty, and maybe don't try to tackle every single undiscovered location for marginal character upgrades.

I like having something to play before bed that feels engrossing but never stressful.

The new Price of Persia. I'm very early but had to support the Switch release since it appears they actually tried on that version.

Is this like some kind of Model UN game?

I'm almost through Marvelous: Another Treasure Island. That's the first time Eiji Aonuma directed a game. He's directed or produced every Zelda game since.

Final Fantasy IV. Finally getting into the good games in the series. Planning to play up through XII in the main series (except for VIII).

Still in the relatively early part of FVII: Remake. The game seems to be a bit bloated, but I'm enjoying the characters and combat. I miss the auto-heal of FXVI, however.

I just finished up Superhot. What a delightful and unique experience. It felt like Portal's distant cousin. I just learned there is a sequel too. I'll play that as well. Definitely worth trying out when it's on sale - currently $7.49.

Yeah, cool concept that doesn't overstay its welcome. Good game!
