From the rumor mill. Several based on the dev. kits that Nintendo has already distributed.

Handheld like the Switch.
Accepts physical carts.
Backwards compatible.
512gb of internal storage.
8 inch screen.
Similar in power to a PS4.
Will release in September / October 2024
Components are already in production.

I was hoping for a little more power, but I will take it. Really hoping it is backwards compatible and there is an OLED model from the jump.

Over the past 25 years, the only Nintendo consoles not backwards compatible have been the GameCube and Switch. The Wii, WiiU, GameBoy Advance, DS, and 3DS all featured backwards compatibility. I think it's a safe bet.

I don't know the best selling game on the Switch is a port of a WiiU game. Lots of money to be made reselling games.

I don't really care about the resolution in handheld mode (720p-1080p is more than adequate), but I really hope there's enough power to make most games run at 60 fps.

I'd be fine with 1080p in docked/TV mode too, assuming the Switch 2 has similar functionality.

Mario, yes. Metroid, maybe. Sounds like Metroid will be on Switch 1 too. Metroid sells poorly outside of the US.

$399 is too high.

Seems like a placeholder price. Release an OLED model with more storage and I'd do that for $399.

2 cartridge slots. One for Switch games, one for Switch 2 games.
Camera.
Won't be called Switch 2 to avoid confusion.
Processor already being mass produced.

I wonder why they couldn't just use the same cartridges/slots. I wish there weren't a camera.

There will be few games early on that do some cool things with the camera. And then it will be completely forgotten.

I wonder if the dock has more juice to really beef up the graphics.
