With few exceptions, Belichick has left the vast majority of starters in late games over the last 18 years in NE and it's worked out well. Brady, for example, rarely comes out.

Andy Reid is like 100-2 coming off a bye week (regular and post season) so, after having 1 week off you can be great, but two weeks off you turn to rust? I think it all depends on the players. I cant see Brady getting rusty with two weeks off.

That all being said, I wish the Eagles would have left Foles in long to get more in game action with the bye next week.

I am more specifically referring to whether you play your players during the last game of the season.

I think when you sit players too long, it takes some time to get back into game speed. There's also the psychological factor of what the Steelers did...sit their best players with a shot at the No. 1 seed? The whole point is to keep improving each week, build and learn and never stop competing. Why play scared?

For the most part I agree with you. However, it is a sport where a few players get hurt every game.

rothlesbianburger is an old fart at this point and by week 17 his oft-injured ass could greatly benefit from healing time

The Giants and the Lions are both targeting Matt Patricia, it seems like. Giants have asked to interview McDaniels, too.

Atlanta is the only repeat playoff team from last season in the NFC. Personally I would rather play the Rams than in the Superdome.
Good on ya Bills. Let hope Shady can suit up.

I was happy about the bills too. If the Falcons can do what they did Sunday and score whether it’s TD’s or FG’s I feel pretty good against any of the NFC playoff teams except Minnesota. I’m concerned about Aaron Donald.

Definitely a bizarro playoff team slate this year. Several stalwarts (GB, DEN, SEA, BAL, IND) all sitting this one out.

can we call IND a stalwart? Without looking anything up, that feels like a helluva reach

Team Skitch; they've missed 3 straight postseasons.

Since the Colts last played a playoff game, the Patriots have won two Super Bowls and I've had three kids. Yeah, it feels like fucking ages ago.

The Browns have gone 1-31 in two seasons..... Inconceivable.

If they were a baseball team, that's the equivalent of going 10-324 over the course of two seasons (at least percentage-wise).

Meh, it's conceivable.

the Lions went 2-30 between 2008 and 2009.

33-111 between 2001-2009

Ravens have missed 3 straight as well. But before then both teams had made the playoffs 6 out of 7 years. They may no longer be stalwarts, but have been in relative recency.

Do we have a thread for predicting QB landing spots next year?

So many teams need QBs and so many QBs could be available in both free agency and the draft that this may be a futile exercise.

Did they really? I knew they were bad, I never realized how bad. Stafford got there in 08 or 09 right?

I just thought it'd be fun to predict. Just a little game to pass the off season with. *shrugs*

I once did a project in looking at the worst eras in NFL post-merger, and the Matt Millen Lions came in at #1 worst with a bullet. I did that before the Browns' last two seasons of disaster, so maybe they're the worst now.

The Browns are about to turn shit around. They have Dorsey (who knows how to draft), the most cap space in the NFL, a base of young talent that is super cheap right now, and more draft picks than any other team. I wouldn't be surprised to see them as legit contenders in 3 or 4 years.

They'll win at least five next season.

As a Vikings fan I’m obviously very interested to see what happens with their QB situation. Keenum, Bridgewater, and Bradford are all free agents this offseason. I’m assuming Bradford is gone. I know the team loves Bridgewater, and Keenum has obviously way outplayed expectations. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens. If the Vikes advance in the playoffs I don’t know how they could let Keenum walk.
