The Official Jose Canseco Steroid Era (1986-2005) WhatIf Tournament DETAILS This tournament will include all seasons from 1986-2005. The links to our previous tournaments for those who aren't familiar with all of this are below. Post-Strike Tournament : http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4441 All-Time Franchise Tournament I: http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4546 LCS Era Tournament: http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5143 Integration Era Tournament: http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6243 All-Time Franchise Tournament II: http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6541 DRAFT GUIDELINES
SEASON GUIDELINES: 1. We will have a regular season before the tournament. Everyone will play everyone else ten times, five times at home and five times on the road. 2. The playoffs will be best-of-seven series. We will use the same rules about pitching rotations/rest as we did in the every other tournament. You will have the option to start someone on two games' rest twice during the playoffs. You will have the option to do it four times during the regular season as well (where the same three games' rest rule applies). A pitcher CANNOT start on two games' rest in consecutive starts. He needs a full three games before he can start again after starting on short rest. Rotations will reset at the All-Star break and the start of the playoffs. 3. The top three teams in the standings at the end of the season will make the playoffs. Tie-breakers for the third spot will be settled via play-in game. These games are considered part of the regular season, so pitchers in them are subjected to regular season rest restrictions. Tie-breakers for the other spots will be based on head-to-head record. If the teams split their meetings, the tie will be broken by whoever had the better record against the highest seeded team overall (this will carry down in the standings until the tie is broken). The second and third place teams will play a best-of-seven series for the right to face the first place team in the World Series.[/spoiler] Spreadsheet link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1s84m09sc4pcujx/blank%2060%20game%20sheet.xls?dl=0 DRAFT RESULTS

Isn't it only fair that you sign up for this? cutuphalfdead wrote: yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss Now is good time to revisit the trades/waiver debate. Also, if the league is only eight teams, I may switch up the two games per day format. With a small enough league it might be feasible to do a three game series every day. |

This might be too wild an idea for you folk, but what if instead of repeating post strike era, we do a "steroid era" and define it 1985-2005? |

I'm glad you said this. I had been thinking about trying to frame a similar time period in a different way to keep it from being essentially the same pool of players as last time. "Steroid Era" is better than anything I came up with (my best suggestion was gonna end up being just straight-up decades, and doing either the 90s or 00s). I'm 100% down with this. |

I chose those years because MLB started testing for real in 2006, and 1985 gives us a nice 20 year window that includes the late 80s with the clearly roided out bash brothers teams. |

1986-2005 would be 20 years, so maybe that. |

Canseco was a rookie in 1986, right? Seems like starting it in 1986 could be a nice tribute to him. I can't think of any pre-Canseco juicers off the top of my head. |
