Love the support. We were lucky that Eng beat Aus in the semi. You're our bogey team. A big brother on the shoulder we cannot seem to shake.

Luck, it seems, is something else that alludes you.

Just for a second imagine if the Aussies were in the NZ position. Spoilt bastards wouldn't have controlled themselves.

Hats off to the dignity of the NZ cricket team.

Shane Warne was without doubt the greatest test bowler I've ever had the pleasure to watch. The joy of spending an afternoon watching him prod and press and dissect a batting line up was unparalleled.

He was also me. Or at least a real representation of my generation. Not from the ridiculous talent side of course, but he was my age, had similar ideals, loved a beer. He was our standard bearer. He dated Elizabeth Hurley FFS! My man!

And now he's dead. Fucking random.

You were the greatest Warnie.

Not very familiar with him, but I’m spending the afternoon at a pub in the bush, so I expect I’ll be educated.

Didn’t another famous cricketer die in the last couple days as well?

Yeah Rod Marsh. 1980's wicketkeeper. Saw both these men play.

Well said, Higgs. I was a member of the SCG from 1992-2006 so I saw Warnie every year, every game. He was one of a kind.

From a purely cricketing perspective that is likely the best possible timing to be a member of either the MCG or SCG. Nice one.

I went to primary school with Rod Marsh's son. They lived just down the road from me. I spent a few summers days at the park across the road from his place playing cricket and generally messing about. Rod Marsh was on his prime at that time though so was very rarely there - almost always on tour somewhere.

WA cricket was amazing at that time. Lillee, Marsh, Alderman, Wood, Yardley.

is one day cricket dying or nah? seems like they’re actively trying to phase it out which would be a real shame. it’s my favourite format of the game.

Mine too. Unfortunately, it's stuck between the OG in test cricket and the newer money maker in T20.

Indian fans are livid that the ODI series vs NZ was rained off while they were trailing. "Useless country, we should never waste time playing where it rains so much."

Pretty funny. Feel for them, though.

Bazball vs Usman-ball

Australia need a few early wickets today to make this exciting. However if England get a quick 300 and throw Australia in before stumps it's going to be hot-shit-fire.

Either way both teams could win this first test.

Set up for a great 3-4 hours of cricket. First hour is crucial. Australia only lose Boland then game on. Usman is MVP.

i loved stokes' captaincy in the first test. managed to make something out of nothing on more than one occasion. reminds me of the captaincy of michael clarke.

however, the declaration was just plain dumb. everything else he should continue to do.

knowing how weak-willed england can be, they'll probably completely abandon bazball if they lose this test tho.
